'În locul meu' by Bogdan DLP: Can It End His Longest Wait for a No. 1?
Is Bogdan DLP's 'În locul meu' a hit? 86,243 views on day one, from a singer with 16 Romanian No. 1s since 2022 and none since January.
Min Key,
Short, loud from end to end and built to be sung back. His fans came on day one; the charts decide whether the wait for a No. 1 ends.
Bogdan DLP has had 16 No. 1s on Billboard's Romania Songs chart since May 2022, and between them they held the top spot for 52 weeks. 'Hitana' stayed there nine weeks in 2023; 'Dacă n-ai bani', with Gheboasă and Lil Cagula, seven in 2022. His last week at No. 1 was dated 24 January 2026, the fifth and final week of 'Aladam'. By 7 October that was 256 days ago, the longest he has gone without a No. 1 since his first.
'În locul meu' went up on his YouTube channel on the evening of 6 October, Romanian time. Within 20 hours it had 86,243 views and 4,275 likes, one like for every 20 views. On Spotify's Romanian daily chart for 5 October he already had three songs: 'Hazolina' at No. 9, 'Te pup' at No. 54 and 'Ma Suni Noaptea', with BOB, at No. 60. The new single has to join them or push one aside.
How 'În locul meu' sounds: two minutes and seventeen seconds
The song runs 2 minutes 17 seconds, 13 seconds shorter than 'Hazolina'. His voice comes in at 0.6 seconds, with no intro to skip, and the title phrase is sung eight times, twice in the first 12 seconds. Our listening tools place the chorus at 0:23 and again at 1:36. After 2:03 there is no voice, only the beat running out.
It is also loud from end to end. The loudest stretches are only 2.8 times louder than the quietest, against 4.9 for 'Hazolina', and of the eight songs we measured on 7 October it was the flattest. Our readings put it at about 108 beats a minute in F minor, a little slower than 'Hazolina' at about 118. The sound classifier hears Middle Eastern and Afrobeat-style dance music in it more often than pop, which fits manele, the Romanian style with Balkan and Middle Eastern roots that he has topped the charts with.
No lyric for it has been published yet, on the streaming services or under the video, so we will not guess at the verses. The title is the Romanian for 'in my place', the phrase someone uses when they ask you to imagine standing where they stand. Of the 40 comments YouTube ranks highest on day one, five call it sad or romantic or say it made them cry, so his listeners are hearing a love song that hurts.

What the first listeners expect from 'În locul meu'
Those 40 comments are early and small, 102 likes between them, but they split clearly. Four predict a hit, one of them a No. 1 on YouTube's trending list in Romania. Two say the old Bogdan is back. Two say the song is too short, which our clock agrees with. One says he is slipping.
Our verdict on 'În locul meu', and our bet
The case for it is that it is built to be sung back. The hook arrives inside the first second, the title returns eight times in 137 seconds, and the volume never drops, so it sounds the same on a phone speaker as in a car. His fans did their part on day one: a like for every 20 views is a warm start for a channel of 1.95 million subscribers.
The case against it is the one those fans already made. At 2:17 it ends before it settles, and it arrives while 'Hazolina', his August single, still holds No. 9 in Romania. For the next few weeks two of his songs will be asking the same listeners for the same plays.
Our bet, and it is only a bet: the wait ends. 'În locul meu' enters the top 20 of Spotify's Romanian daily chart by 21 October and reaches No. 1 on Billboard's Romania Songs before the end of November. If it stalls below 'Hazolina' instead, the drought becomes the story, and we will report that too. Last week a duet faced the same problem, its singer's own catalogue standing in the way; that is in our review of Florin Cercel and Edward Sanda's 'O sa fie bine'.

YouTube figures and the 40 top comments are from the official video, read on 7 October about 20 hours after it went up; comments were sorted by topic and counted, not quoted.
- We measured tempo, key and loudness in the official videos of 'În locul meu' and 'Hazolina' and put the new song through our listening tools (a section finder, a speech model and a sound classifier), then deleted the files. Tempo and key are estimates. No lyric had been published when we wrote this, so we describe the sound and the title, not the words.
