Outdate Electro is an electronic music project whose uploads are tagged witch house and electroclash; its first release, 'Night Ritual', came out on 27 August 2022.[1][2][3][4] By 23 October 2026 it had put out 84 releases, 68 of them singles, on labels including embers.digital, the witch house label NEDOSTUPNOSTЬ and SINCE 1999.[1][2][9]

In the week ending 15 October 2026 Outdate Electro entered YouTube's weekly Top Artists chart for Russia at No. 23, its first appearance, and two of its songs entered Russia's Top Songs chart: 'Peak' at No. 5 and 'Plastic You' at No. 11.[10][11] Russia was the only one of YouTube's charts to list it that week.[12]

History

The project's Telegram channel, @outdateelectro, was created on 26 March 2023; there he posted release links and personal notes in Russian.[8] He wrote that before Outdate Electro he composed music for, and helped program, several indie games, and in October 2026 he shared an 8-bit piece from that time.[13][14][15] On 11 August 2025 he called that date the project's founding day and announced a third 'season', each with its own cover style.[16]

From 2022 to 2024 the project released singles and albums such as 'Neon Witch', 'You Crave This', 'Music of a Generation', which includes 'Loud Silence', and 'The Recorded Part of History', a 33-track collection.[1][2] Its first release on NEDOSTUPNOSTЬ, 'False Promise', came out on 24 September 2024, and in November 2024 he wrote that he was releasing on the label, which he called the best-known witch house label, and that he had begun performing concerts.[1][9] The official YouTube channel joined YouTube on 10 October 2024 and describes itself only as a 'music creator'; its first uploads, from December 2024 and January 2025, were mood videos and anime music videos set to his tracks, each crediting the video's editor or footage owner.[17][18][19][20]

In 2025 he released the albums 'Your VHS Dream' and 'You Can(t) Do Anything', which includes 'Change', and began releasing on SINCE 1999 with 'Criminal' in June 2025.[1][21] On 23 July 2025 he wrote that a track he had just shared was his first with vocals and that he had sung it himself.[22] 'Peak' came out as a single on 28 November 2025 and was later placed on the album 'EYECONIC Music' (6 February 2026), which collected singles released one by one from October 2025.[23][24]

He performed at the NEDOSTUPNOSTЬ night at BASE in St Petersburg on 2 May 2026, on a bill with PLENKA and PORTWAVE among others, and wrote three days later that he had played the opening slot.[25][26][27] The album 'ACEDIA' (18 September 2026) gathered the 2026 singles 'LOOK AWAY', '1000 YARDS', 'LIVING ARMOR', 'TSAR' and 'STAB'; he wrote that it had been written two years earlier, and described 'LOOK AWAY' as a mix of hardstyle and early Crystal Castles.[28][29][30] On 1 October 2026 he wrote that 'Drained' had replaced 'Loud Silence' at the top of his Yandex Music tracks, a place he said 'Loud Silence' had held for four years.[31] The EP 'Cult Classic' followed on 23 October 2026.[32]

'Peak', 'Plastic You' and the teaser videos

From December 2025 most new uploads on the channel used teaser titles such as 'This video only appears to 1 in 10,000 people' and 'I am deleting this track on October 26 at 6:22'; most of their descriptions named the track and said it was on streaming platforms.[5][33][4] The uploads stayed online after the dates in their titles; one titled for deletion on 22 October 2026 was still playing on 23 October.[34][1]

YouTube's chart counts 'Peak' through the upload 'if you found this track in the first 72 hours, you're special' (7 October 2026), which YouTube identifies as 'Peak (Slowed)', and 'Plastic You' through 'I will delete this track tomorrow. No reuploads' (10 October 2026); on 23 October 2026 they had 3,273,577 and 3,934,473 views.[10][3][35] The 27 uploads posted between 20 September and 22 October 2026 accounted for about 10.5 million of the 10.66 million views across the channel's 58 uploads.[5] On 19 October 2026 he wrote that two of his tracks were in YouTube Music's Russian charts at once.[36][10]

On 23 October 2026 YouTube Music showed 3.4 million monthly listeners for Outdate Electro, against 71K on Spotify.[21][7]

Style and influences

Deezer files the releases as Electro and Dance and Apple Music as Electronic; the video descriptions tag witch house, electroclash and Crystal Castles.[1][2][3][4] In March 2026 he asked followers which musicians they had grown up on and started the list himself with Mindless Self Indulgence, The Prodigy, Pendulum, Daft Punk, Gigi D'Agostino and Toby Fox.[37] Russian-language shorts from July 2026 show VHS-style footage with his tracks playing, one captioned as shot on a Panasonic M3000.[38][39]

Collaborations and remixes

Collaborations include 'Never Existed' (30 August 2024) and 'Princess' (1 November 2024) with lannarie, 'Lost Personality' with Uroboros (29 November 2024), 'Anthem Of Haze' with Summer Of Haze (31 January 2025) and 'Used' with Alex Ricellow (27 June 2025).[1] On 18 March 2026 the channel posted his remixes of plenka's 'Nightmare' and Portwave's 'WAVELENGHT'.[40][6]

Use of AI

Checked on 23 October 2026, 59 of 60 uploads (the channel's 58 and the auto-generated tracks for 'Peak' and 'Plastic You') carry no YouTube 'How this was made' disclosure; the exception is the upload 'Portwave - WAVELENGHT' (18 March 2026), which its description calls an Outdate Electro remix, labelled 'Made with AI', which covers sounds or visuals that were altered or fully generated.[5][6][41][42] In April 2026 he wrote that streaming platforms were doing little about AI-generated tracks in their charts, describing an AI project, a few months old and listed under plenka's name with numbers added, that had more plays than plenka himself.[43]
