Is 'Babydoll' in Off Campus? Jamie Miller's UK No. 1 Came Out After Season 1

Is 'Babydoll' in Off Campus? Not in season 1, out in May, before Jamie Miller's 7 August release. The UK No. 1 has a duet with the show's Antonio Cipriano.

Jamie Miller's 'Babydoll' is not in Off Campus, at least not yet. The Prime Video series about four college hockey players premiered on 13 May 2026, and 'Babydoll' first came out on 7 August, so no first-season episode could have used it. A second season was ordered in February. By 26 October we had found no announcement, from Prime Video or from Miller, that the song would be in it.

Antonio Cipriano, who plays the Briar Hawks forward John Logan, is the link people are searching for: he sings on 'Babydoll feat. Antonio Cipriano', the duet version released on 18 September. On 23 October 'Babydoll' went to No. 1 on Britain's Official Singles Chart, 556 chart units ahead of Tate McRae's 'Housewife'.

Is 'Babydoll' in Off Campus? Not in season 1

Season 1 follows Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham and introduces Garrett's three teammates, Dean, Logan and Tucker. Its soundtrack album, Off Campus: The Mixtape, came out on 13 May, the day of the premiere, with songs by the show's own fictional band and others. 'Babydoll' is not on it, nor on the expanded edition of 23 July; the song was not released until August.

Fans made the match first. On 31 July, a week before the release, Miller posted on TikTok that Off Campus had reached out to him about the song 'because of you guys'. Asked on Capital Breakfast in October about a cameo in the show, he would say only that 'the conversations are being had right now'. Under the duet video, 7 of the 40 comments and replies we read in YouTube's 'Top comments' order are about the show: asking for the song in season 2, picturing Logan singing it, or naming Off Campus outright. The top comment, with about 1,500 likes, is one of them. In the book series the show adapts, Logan's story with Grace Ivers is the second novel, though Prime Video has said season 2 centres on Dean and Allie.

The 'Babydoll' dance, and where Antonio Cipriano comes in

The dance people search for started on TikTok: Miller posted the song with its routine from 24 July, and it spread in mid-August once Jennifer Love Hewitt took it up, a month before the duet existed. On the record itself, Cipriano's part starts later than many listeners might guess.

We lined the duet up against the solo version, using the official lyric video, and compared the two second by second. For the first 72 seconds the two are indistinguishable to our measurement. They part at 1:13, where the second verse starts, and differ through most of what follows; only the closing seconds match again. The backing track never drifts: across the whole song the duet runs within a tenth of a second of the solo.

The duet also fills a gap. From 2:14 to 2:31 the solo has no lyrics. In the duet that space carries an extra run of 'gotta be you' before the last choruses. Our tools cannot tell one man's voice from another's, so we will not say who sings which line. They do show that the new version keeps the solo's opening minute and rebuilds the second half around two voices.

Our beat tracker puts the song at 123 BPM and our key estimator in F major. The voice enters about eight seconds in, and the first chorus arrives at 0:38. On Apple Music both versions run 2:59.

In 'Babydoll', he picks who gets to break his heart

The song opens on the way she dances. He likes how she moves and how sure of herself she is, sees a look in her eye that could ruin his life, and asks to sign up anyway. The pre-chorus dares her to bring it on. It calls her babydoll, a pet name rather than a description, and says her eyes could put him on his knees.

In the chorus, if somebody is going to hurt him and tear his world apart, he would rather it be her, and if she is going to leave him heartbroken, they might as well get started. It lands on “That someone's gotta be you”, the line the last minute keeps repeating.

The second verse admits the risk. Time in her heaven feels like looking down the barrel of a weapon; it might be good, it might be bad, it might leave him a mess, and none of it makes sense. He says bring it on again.

How 'Babydoll' climbed in Britain, then the Netherlands

Spotify's weekly charts picked up 'Babydoll' in Britain first: 176th for the seven days to 10 September, then 84th, 52nd, 9th by the first of October, 6th, 5th and 2nd for the seven days ending 22 October. Britain's daily Spotify list had it first on 17 and 18 October. The Official Singles Chart moved in step: No. 3 on 9 October, No. 2 a week later, then No. 1. Ashe's 'Stop The Wedding!' reached the British top five in the same 9 October chart.

The Netherlands is the only other country where Spotify's weekly chart has put it in the top five, rising from 49th in the list dated 1 October to 2nd three weeks later. Spotify's weekly charts now list 'Babydoll' in 13 countries and worldwide, where it went from 190th to 105th to 74th in three weeks. On Spotify's US chart it lags: 156th, 138th, 107th, then 136th in the latest week.

On Shazam, 'Babydoll' led the British chart on 26 October and was fifth in Denmark and New Zealand, seventh in Australia and eighth in Belgium. Nine national charts placed it inside the top 50, up from four on 3 October. English Wikipedia's article on Miller, a 2017 finalist on The Voice UK, was viewed 1,401 times on 1 September and 20,381 times on 24 October.

Miller and Cipriano sang it together on BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing results show on 25 October. Miller grew up in Cardiff. The Official Charts Company counts him as the first Welsh act at No. 1 since Sian Evans sang on DJ Fresh's 'Louder' in 2011, and the first solo male Welsh artist there since Shakin' Stevens in 1985.

Which 'Babydoll'? Not the Dominic Fike song

The title is crowded. Dominic Fike's 'Babydoll', from his 2018 EP Don't Forget About Me, Demos, has more than 1.9 billion Spotify streams, and Apple's catalogue also has 'Babydoll' songs by BoyWithUke (2023) and Ely Oaks (June 2026). Typed alone, 'babydoll' brings up both 'jamie miller' and 'dominic fike' in Google's suggestions. Miller's song is the one that opens on how she dances and keeps coming back to 'gotta be you'.

How far 'Babydoll' can travel beyond Britain

Britain has done its part. Our bet: when Spotify counts the seven days to 19 November, 'Babydoll' will sit among the 50 most streamed songs worldwide, up from 74th now. It has gained ground in each of its three weeks there, and neither the No. 1 nor the Strictly night had been counted yet. The United States is what could hold it back: we expect the song still to be outside the top 100 of Spotify's US weekly chart that week.

About the data

  • Spotify positions are taken from kworb.net, which keeps every weekly and daily Spotify chart; the newest week we used ends 22 October 2026. The British positions on 9, 16 and 23 October and the Welsh records are the Official Charts Company's. Shazam places are from our own readings of Shazam's country charts on 3 October and on 26 October at about 00:15 UTC. Wikipedia numbers count daily page views by people, not bots, through the Wikimedia API. YouTube comments and replies were read in YouTube's 'Top comments' order on 26 October and counted by topic, not quoted. Google suggestions were read with US settings on 26 October. Both singles' dates and lengths are from their Apple Music pages; the Off Campus premiere, renewal and season 2 focus are as English Wikipedia's article on the series gives them, and Miller's 31 July post is on his TikTok account. His Capital Breakfast answer is as On The Radio reported it on 20 October, and the dance's July start and August spread follow Know Your Meme's account of the trend.
  • To compare the two versions we took the sound of Miller's lyric video and of the duet video, lined them up by their harmony and measured how far their timbre differed each second, then deleted both files. Tempo and key come from a beat tracker and a key estimator run on the duet video; section times come from LRCLIB's timed lyrics, checked with a speech model on the lyric video. Treat them as approximate. Lyrics were read from the description under the official lyric video. We quote one full line and describe the rest.
