Desh (styled DESH) is a Hungarian rapper and singer. He has said that he worked as a garbage collector before music took off, and his first solo hit, 'Kukásautó' ('Garbage truck', 2021), told that story.[1][2][3][4] He rose through his songs with Azahriah, beginning with 'Rét' and 'Mind1' (2021) and the joint album 'A ló túloldalán' (2022), and from 2023 released a run of EPs and singles, many of them with Young Fly; fifteen of his songs reached No. 1 on MAHASZ's Single Top 40 between July 2023 and August 2026.[5][6][7][8][9]

Eight of the ten songs on MAHASZ's 2025 year-end singles list featured him, and IFPI's 'Music in the EU 2026' report, published in September 2026, called him the most dominant domestic artist across the EU on that count.[10][11][12] On YouTube's weekly Hungary Top Artists chart he was No. 1 in 119 weeks between December 2021 and October 2026, more than any other act on the chart between February 2019 and October 2026, including every week from 30 October 2025 to 22 October 2026.[13]

Name and identity

His official YouTube channel, @DESHX, was created on 26 November 2016 and gave Hungary as its country; on 26 October 2026 it had 446K subscribers, 49 videos and 1,017,143,491 views. On 15 October 2026 his management company, Supermanagement, told the news agency MTI that the channel had passed one billion views.[1][14] The nickname 'Deshi' appeared in his song credits and lyrics.[15][16][17]

Unrelated acts share the name. On 26 October 2026 Apple Music attached 'The Touch' (Desh & delaney., 2025) and 'She's So Damn Fine' (Flowfly & Desh, 2025) to his profile, Deezer mixed his single 'TIP TIP' into a profile of other releases, and YouTube Music listed a 2026 single 'Other Ends' by RMB Justize and DESH; none of these carried his label's (P) line or a Hungarian collaborator, and they are left out of the discography below.[18][19][20][21]

Background

A 2022 interview with Sávlekötő was titled with his own words that he was still collecting garbage while millions were already listening to him, and in the talk show 1KANAPÉN in June 2024 he said he was grateful to be making music rather than standing on a garbage truck.[2][22] According to Index's summary of the programme, he spoke there about growing up in modest circumstances and the hostility he had often faced over his origin, and said music had earned him the respect he wanted.[23][22] He told Forbes Hungary in 2026 that he had bought a house by the age of 25 but, having worked on the garbage trucks, feared that what he had built could disappear; Forbes put him on its 2026 list of 30 successful Hungarians under 30.[24] His 2025 EP is titled 'Talpra cigányok' ('Up on your feet, Gypsies'), and in 'SUV 2' (2026) he called himself a 'cigánygyerek' ('Gypsy kid').[25][17]

Career: first releases and Azahriah (2020–2021)

The earliest release with him found on Apple Music was a guest verse on Dinero's 'Távol Tőled', released on 15 June 2020. His earliest solo singles on Apple Music, '203' (14 November 2020) and 'Insomnia' with Goldrey (1 December 2020), carried the (P) line Gemini.[26][27][28] 'Rét', the earliest of his songs with Azahriah to chart, entered MAHASZ's Stream Top 40 in the last week of 2020 and stayed 73 weeks, peaking at No. 7; it later reached No. 9 on the Single Top 40.[5][29][30] Azahriah also recorded, mixed and mastered Desh's 'Nadieu' (13 February 2021).[31][32]

Azahriah and Desh released 'Mind1' on 29 May 2021, written by both and produced by Azahriah; its video had 62,669,015 views on 26 October 2026.[6][33] It topped the Stream Top 40 for 12 weeks and Spotify's Hungarian weekly chart for 13, and stayed 140 weeks on the Single Top 40.[34][35][30] In the week ending 3 June 2021 he entered YouTube's Hungary Top Artists chart for the first time, at No. 18.[13] 'Mind1' was nominated for Recording of the Year at the 2022 Fonogram awards, which went to VALMAR and Manuel's 'Éget a nap'.[36][37] 'El Barto' followed on 14 July 2021 and reached No. 6 on the Stream Top 40.[38][30]

His solo single 'Kukásautó' came out on 2 December 2021 on Supermanagement, produced by ThatKidGoran and Azahriah, with a video directed by Büki Balázs and Azahriah.[39][4] It entered the Stream Top 40 and Spotify's Hungarian weekly chart at No. 1, and its video had 50,039,473 views on 26 October 2026, the second most on his channel.[40][41][4] In the week ending 9 December 2021 he was No. 1 on YouTube's Hungary Top Artists chart for the first time.[13] At the end of the month he joined Young Fly on '24 karát', which Index later called the two rappers' first song together.[42][43]

'A ló túloldalán' and 'DESHPERADO' (2022)

In 2022 he featured on Tóth Andi's 'atedalod' and Rico and Miss Mood's 'Fless', and released 'Adieu' (5 May), produced, mixed and mastered by Somogyvári Dániel.[44][45][46] On 20 May 2022 Azahriah and Desh released the joint album 'A ló túloldalán' ('The other side of the horse'), with 11 duo songs and a bonus track by Azahriah alone; Azahriah and Somogyvári shared the production.[7][47] In its first week eight of its songs entered the Stream Top 40, so that the duo held ten of the chart's forty places, and 'Pullup' then topped it for eight weeks.[48][49] NMHH, Hungary's media authority, found that 'Pullup' was the most-streamed song on Spotify in Hungary in 2022.[50] The album was certified fifteen times platinum and reached No. 1 on the Album Top 40 in July 2024, after it first entered that chart in July 2023.[51][52][53]

The video for 'Drill' (22 August 2022), directed and shot by Büki Balázs, won gold for best cinematography at the sixth Magyar Klipszemle music video festival on 13 October 2022.[54][55] His debut solo album, 'DESHPERADO', came out on 25 October 2022 with 14 songs, most of them produced by Somogyvári Dániel, three of them duets with Azahriah.[56][57] 'Papa' (with Azahriah) reached No. 2 on the Stream Top 40, and the 'Malibu' video had 29,048,487 views on 26 October 2026.[58][59] The album was certified four times platinum.[51] On 1 December 2022 he posted a live session with Azahriah, 'Pannonia session 2022'.[60]

'Rollin'', 'CARPE DIEM' and 'tripq' (2023)

In 2023 he featured on T. Danny's 'Tisztelet' and BSW's 'Kamagra Gang', and when he joined Azahriah at the Papp László Budapest Sportaréna on 10 March, Index wrote that the two performers' names and work were almost inseparable.[61][62][63] 'Rollin'', by Desh, Young Fly and KKevin (7 July 2023), became his first No. 1 on the Single Top 40 in the week ending 27 July.[64][8] On 21 July he and Young Fly released the EP 'CARPE DIEM', which reached No. 2 on the Album Top 40 and was certified double platinum; its song 'Rampapapam', with Azahriah and Lord Panamo, held No. 1 on the Single Top 40 for 12 weeks and Spotify Hungary for 15, and was the No. 1 song of MAHASZ's 2023 year-end list.[65][66][51][67][68][69]

On 24 August 2023 Azahriah and Desh released the EP 'tripq', produced by Azahriah. 'ceremónia' entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 and four more of its songs entered the top seven the same week, while the EP topped the Album Top 40.[70][71][72] On the 2023 year-end singles list he had five songs in the top ten and 21 entries in all.[69] 'A bús barista balladái' ('Ballads of the sad barista'), a solo EP, followed on 16 November 2023; its song 'Osztriga' entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 and the EP was certified platinum.[73][74][75][51] NMHH later reported that in 2023 he was second on the annual Hungarian YouTube list, with 121 million views.[76]

'Strawberry', 'BAKPAKK' and 'PANNONIA' (2024)

'Strawberry' (2 May 2024), directed by Rádli Bence, entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1, spent seven weeks there and ranked second for the year; its video had 42,775,068 views on 26 October 2026.[77][78][79] On 24 May 2024 he opened the first of Azahriah's three Puskás Aréna stadium concerts with a set of about 45 minutes, partly with Young Fly.[80] 'BAKPAKK', with Young Fly and Azahriah, entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 in July, and the EP of the same name followed on 25 July with 'MOKKA', 'CHOCO MOMMY', 'PANNONIA' and 'SUV'.[81][82][83] The EP spent ten weeks at No. 1 on the Album Top 40 and was certified nine times platinum.[84][51]

'PANNONIA' spent 22 weeks at No. 1 on the Single Top 40 and was the No. 1 song of MAHASZ's year-end list in both 2024 and 2025.[85][86][79][10] NMHH found it was Hungary's most-streamed track of 2024 on both Spotify and YouTube, with more than 35 million plays combined, and its video, the most-viewed on his channel, had 68,277,058 views on 26 October 2026.[87][88] His views on YouTube's Hungary Top Artists chart reached 11,158,827 in the week ending 8 August 2024, the highest weekly total of any act on that chart between February 2019 and October 2026.[13]

His first solo concert at Budapest Park, on 1 August 2024, sold out; Young Fly, Azahriah, KKevin and Lord Panamo joined him, and the show of about 90 minutes closed with 'Kukásautó'.[43] 'BANDANA', by KKevin, Desh and Young Fly, was certified platinum nineteen times, and Dzsúdló's 'díva' featuring Desh stayed 113 weeks on the Single Top 40.[89][51][90] At the eighth Magyar Klipszemle in October 2024 he and Co Lee led the nominations with four each, and the 'BAKPAKK' video won gold for best style.[91][92] He appeared in 'Mi vagyunk Azahriah', a film about Azahriah mixing archive footage and staged scenes, which opened in cinemas on 28 November 2024.[93][94] 'LEVÉL' ('Letter', 12 December 2024), which Index described as a break-up song, peaked at No. 2.[95][96][30]

'Talpra cigányok', 'OHMAMMA' and the MVM Dome (2025)

The single 'Talpra cigányok' (25 April 2025) spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Single Top 40, and 'Vinnipu', with choreography by Lakatos Loretta, eight; the five-song EP 'Talpra cigányok' followed on 22 May.[97][98][99][100][25] He played a second sold-out Budapest Park concert on 16 May 2025 with Young Fly, KKevin, Lord Panamo and Dzsúdló.[101] In August 2025 Prime Minister Orbán Viktor's team used 'Talpra cigányok' as background music for a Facebook video; asked about it by Forbes Hungary, Desh said one could only laugh at it.[102][24]

'OHMAMMA', with Young Fly (8 August 2025), spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Single Top 40 and 15 on the Magyar Rádiós Top 40, MAHASZ's radio chart for Hungarian recordings.[103][104][105] In the summer of 2025 he played main festival stages, including SopronFest and Campus Festival.[106][107] 'Karácsonyi dal', a Christmas song with Young Fly and Azahriah, entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 in December.[108][109] On 19 December 2025 he gave a solo concert at the MVM Dome in Budapest, an arena of 20,022 seats; the concert film he posted in March 2026 is captioned 'SOLD OUT'.[110][111][24]

'Jól leszek újra', 'TIP TIP' and 'SUV 2' (2026)

Nagy Bogi's 'Jól leszek újra' featuring Desh (13 February 2026) entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 and topped the Magyar Rádiós Top 40 for 21 weeks.[112][113][114] 'TIP TIP' (March 2026) and 'Kiskece' (May 2026) spent seven and nine weeks at No. 1 on the Single Top 40.[115][116][117][118] In March 2026 he travelled with Azahriah on the opening date of Azahriah's European tour in Prague, according to Azahriah's Facebook story reported by Index.[119]

'SUV 2', with Young Fly (21 August 2026), entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 and spent six weeks there, and was No. 1 on Spotify Hungary in each of its first nine weeks.[17][9][120] In the week of 9–15 October 2026, eleven of the forty songs on the Single Top 40 featured him.[121] On 18 September 2026 he was a guest at the first of Azahriah's two Budapest Park concerts, both built around playing 'A ló túloldalán' in full for the first time in years.[122] In an RTL interview that month he said he follows the statistics closely only in the first days after a release, and that big streaming numbers do not automatically sell stadium tickets.[123] On 18 October 2026 a contestant on TV2's 'Sztárban Sztár' impersonated him with a medley of his hits.[124]

Artistry and collaborators

From 2022 Somogyvári Dániel produced, and usually mixed and mastered, almost all of his own releases, while Azahriah produced 'Mind1', 'tripq' and 'Eldorádó' and co-produced 'A ló túloldalán' and 'MOKKA'. Rádli Bence directed most of his videos from 'Rampapapam' (2023) to 'SUV 2' (2026); earlier ones were directed by Büki Balázs and Vitó Zsombor.[46][57][6][15][125][47][126][4][31][59]

His most frequent partners on record were Azahriah and Young Fly, with KKevin and Lord Panamo on several songs.[39][7][65][83] Reviewing 'BAKPAKK', Telex heard afro trap, Caribbean-style afrobeats and light pop with Balkan and Hungarian folk touches and lyrics mixing Hungarian and English; it scored the EP 4.5 out of 10 and called it crude, but wrote that Desh and Young Fly had built a sound of their own that made their songs recognisable among look-alike trending tracks.[127] Index described his songs with Azahriah as hybrids of trap and mulatós, Hungarian party music.[122]

On 26 October 2026 no label for AI or synthetic content was found on any of the 49 videos on his channel; the credits named him as lyricist, and he performed the songs live, as in the full MVM Dome concert film.[128][4][110]
