Hootie Frutti

'Hootie Frutti' is a pop song by KATSEYE, released on 14 August 2026 on the group's third EP, 'Wild', through HYBE and Geffen Records.^[1][2][11] Thom Bridges produced it and wrote it with Rachel West, Amanda Kiddo and Daniela González.^[1] The official audio runs 2 minutes 21 seconds.^[1]

What it is about

The title is an invented phrase. It keeps the sound of tutti frutti, Italian for all fruits and the name of an ice-cream flavour made with bits of candied fruit, and swaps the first word for hootie, which means nothing on its own.^[3][4][5] Fruit works as a double meaning from start to finish: the singer uses it for her own appeal, and the song is a flirtation in which she is fully aware of the effect she has.^[3][4] The track opens with a line in Portuguese, and its beat draws on Brazilian baile funk.^[3][11] In a piece on how the song charted, mymy counted the word fruit 55 times in the lyric.^[5]

Video and performances

Alfred Marroquin directed the music video, which HYBE LABELS published on YouTube on 14 August 2026; it had 115.7 million views on 4 October.^[6] KATSEYE performed the song, with 'Animal', on Saturday Night Live on 26 September 2026.^[12] A remix by the Brazilian producer and DJ Pedro Sampaio, featuring Mc Gw and Clementaum, came out on 2 October.^[11]

Charts

The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 31 on the chart dated 29 August 2026, the same week 'Wild' opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 170,000 equivalent units and KATSEYE reached No. 1 on the Artist 100 for the first time.^[7][8][11] It entered the Billboard Global 200 at No. 19 that week.^[8] In the UK it entered the Official Singles Chart at No. 16 in the week of 21 August 2026, which remained its peak, and became the group's fifth top 40 single of the year.^[9][10]
