Young Fly is a Hungarian singer, rapper and songwriter. His YouTube channel dates from 2018; he wrote lyrics for the King Monroe circle in 2019 and 2020, released his first solo single, 'Ne Gyere Át', in August 2021, and from the end of that year worked mainly with the rapper Desh, often joined by Azahriah.[1][2][3][4][5] Their joint EPs 'CARPE DIEM' (2023) and 'BAKPAKK' (2024) were certified double and nine times platinum by MAHASZ, the Hungarian record industry association, and songs featuring him topped MAHASZ's year-end singles list in 2023, 2024 and 2025.[6][7][8][9]

On YouTube's weekly Hungary charts, counted here from February 2019, he entered the Top Artists list in January 2022 and stayed on it for 173 weeks in a row from July 2023 to October 2026, reaching No. 2. Twenty-two songs naming him entered the Top Songs chart and ten reached No. 1; 'OHMAMMA' with Desh spent 17 weeks at No. 1, more than any other song on the chart between February 2019 and October 2026.[10][11]

Name and identity

He told Propaganda in July 2026 that Young Fly was the only stage name he ever used. He made it up at home at a time when American rappers often put 'Lil' or 'Young' in front of their names; he said 'Young' meant a fresh start to him and 'Fly' meant staying relaxed.[12] His YouTube channel, created on 26 March 2018, used the handle @YOUNGFLYX in October 2026.[1]

Other acts use the same name: an American rapper who released records on Whoopass Productions in 2008 and 2011, the artist of several 2026 singles on '3220735 Records DK', a Chinese-language single and the American comedian DC Young Fly. Deezer's artist profile 1062120 mixed some of their releases with his, while MusicBrainz kept the Hungarian artist apart.[13][14]

Career: early years and King Monroe (2018–2021)

In a 2024 interview with Recorder, which the magazine introduced as his first major interview, he said he had gone to music school from the first grade, learning piano and wind instruments, and later taught himself guitar by ear after watching Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran on YouTube. He also took lessons from a singing teacher in Óbuda, Budapest.[15][12] He told the same interview that his grandfather played guitar and his father had played many concerts in the early 1990s.[15]

He said he began rapping for fun with a cousin who had lived in the United States, first wanted to sing in English, worked alongside school to pay for beginner studio equipment and deleted many of his early uploads. His first song to reach a wider audience, by his account, was 'Tequila Sunrise' with the rapper Awful; a 17-second trailer for it was posted on YouTube on 1 June 2018 and the full upload was later removed.[15][2]

The producer King BJ then invited him into his team, a YouTube channel that grew into the King Monroe label. Young Fly said King BJ pushed him to rap in Hungarian rather than English, which led him to a mixed Hungarian-English style he called 'Hunglish'.[15] King Monroe Sound credited the lyrics of the posse cut 'Exclusive 2' (20 June 2019) to seven writers including him, those of the Filius Dei songs 'Classic' (1 August 2019, from the album 'Bibliä') and 'Mantra' (26 October 2020) to Young Mole and Young Fly, and those of 'PayDay' (1 January 2020, also from 'Bibliä') to Young Mole, Young Fly and Siska Finuccsi; the 'Classic' video had 7,803,495 views on 26 October 2026.[16][3][17][18][19] In the same period, he said, he wrote lyrics, flows and melodies for better-known artists without credit and worked as a voice coach.[15]

He told Recorder that several members disagreed with the label, without going into detail, and that Pitta, a fellow writer in the circle, left before he did.[15] On 29 July 2021 Nidal's channel published 'Démonok' by Nidal, Filius Dei and Young Fly.[20] On 15 August 2021 his own channel published 'Ne Gyere Át'. Its video credited the lyrics to Young Fly and Pitta, the arrangement, mix and master to Somogyvári Dani, and the direction to Rádli Bence, and named Virtual-Office Management as rights holder.[4] He described it as a farewell song, whose video shows his new persona abducting and doing away with his old Filius Dei-era character, and said it was his first track with Somogyvári, who had been recommended to him by HRflow.[15] In April 2025 King Monroe published a two-part documentary about 2021 whose second part had a chapter titled 'Young Fly & Pitta válasza' ('Young Fly and Pitta's reply').[21]

'Ne Gyere Át' reached streaming services on 17 August 2021 and peaked at No. 54 on Spotify's Hungarian weekly chart, staying nine weeks in its top 200; the video had 2,948,249 views on 26 October 2026.[22][23][4] He said the song brought him offers that led to songs with BSW, Rico and Miss Mood, and Manuel. HRflow's 'Kitérő', with him as a guest, came out on 27 September 2021, and on 1 October 2021 he published the video for 'Délibáb' with M Ricch.[15][24][25]

'24 karát' and the first work with Desh (2021–2022)

Desh later said the two had first met at King BJ's studio, while Young Fly told Recorder they got to know each other after Desh and Azahriah praised 'Ne Gyere Át' online. Both told the story of how Desh phoned him late one evening asking for a demo, and Young Fly sent him an unfinished song, '24 karát', of which he already had the chorus and his own verse; a week later the two were recording it at Somogyvári's studio.[26][27][15] The video, credited to Young Fly x Desh, was published on 29 December 2021 and the single followed on 31 December on Supermanagement.[5][22] It entered MAHASZ's Stream Top 40 at No. 24, peaked at No. 26 on Spotify's Hungarian weekly chart, where it stayed for 148 weeks, and had 6,231,001 views on 26 October 2026, the most of the four videos on his own channel.[28][29][5][30] In the week ending 6 January 2022 he appeared on YouTube's Hungary Top Artists chart for the first time, at No. 54.[10]

He said that while Azahriah and Desh were recording their joint album 'A ló túloldalán', he let them stay at his home because it was close to Somogyvári's studio. The album, released on 20 May 2022, includes 'Lóerő (feat. Young Fly)', which entered the Stream Top 40 at No. 12 and gave him his first week on the Single Top 40, at No. 31.[15][24][28][31] In 2022 he also featured on YoungBoy Rallo's 'Unom' (7 April), BSW's 'Red flag' (22 November, No. 69 on Spotify Hungary) and Rico's 'Baby', and released his own 'Nekem elég' with Tóth Andi on 11 November.[24][32][33][34][35][36] By his account, his first joint performance with Desh came after Desh's first album, 'DESHPERADO', was released, when Desh invited him as a guest to a show at the Akvárium club in Budapest.[15]

Early in 2023 he appeared on Manuel's album 'Idegen' with 'Hosszú út' (2 February; No. 21 on the Stream Top 40) and released 'Viszlát' with Berta'Lami (8 February).[37][28][38] He kept playing his own club dates through 2023, but said that from 1 January 2024 he took no separate bookings and performed only with Desh and their wider team.[15]

'Rollin'', 'Rampapapam' and 'CARPE DIEM' (2023)

'Rollin'' by Desh, Young Fly and KKevin came out as a video on 30 June 2023 and as a single on 7 July. It entered MAHASZ's Single Top 40 at No. 2 and reached No. 1 in the week of 21–27 July 2023, the first chart-topper on which he appeared, and stayed 85 weeks on the chart.[39][22][31] In the week ending 6 July 2023 he returned to YouTube's Hungary Top Artists chart at No. 10, and he was on it in every week from then until the week ending 22 October 2026.[10]

Desh and Young Fly's EP 'CARPE DIEM' followed on 21 July 2023 with five songs: 'Walkin a street' and 'Rampapapam' (both with Azahriah; the latter featuring Lord Panamo), 'Honeymoon', 'Rollin'' and 'Pakisztáni/popo'. Somogyvári Dániel produced, mixed and mastered it.[22][40][39][41][42][43] It entered the Album Top 40 at No. 2, spent six weeks there and was on the chart in its 165th week in October 2026; it ranked second on the 2023 year-end album list and was certified double platinum.[44][45][6]

'Rampapapam' began, he said, during a night at Azahriah's home: Azahriah played a reggae beat and gave everyone ten minutes to write a chorus, and Young Fly's was chosen; the project file was later lost and only the chorus survived in his memory, so he and Desh took it to Somogyvári, who built a new beat in minutes.[15] It spent 12 weeks at No. 1 on the Single Top 40, stayed 120 weeks on the chart and was the No. 1 song of MAHASZ's 2023 year-end list. It also topped Spotify's Hungarian weekly chart for 15 weeks.[31][7][46] 'Pakisztáni/popo' peaked at No. 2 on the Single Top 40 and No. 1 on Spotify Hungary, and ranked fourth for the year.[31][47][7] In August he featured with Lord Panamo and Copy Con on 'béke', the closing song of Azahriah and Desh's EP 'tripq', which entered the Single Top 40 at No. 3.[24][48][31]

On 21 December 2023 T. Danny and Young Fly released 'No Woman No Cry' on Astro Music Group; it was also on T. Danny's album 'EZER NAP' the next day. The song led the Single Top 40 for five weeks from the week of 29 December 2023 and ranked sixth for 2024.[22][49][24][31][8] On YouTube's Hungary Top Songs chart it spent eight weeks at No. 1 from the week ending 28 December 2023.[11] T. Danny's entry for the 2025 Fonogram awards, which listed the song among its tracks, was nominated for domestic modern pop-rock album or recording; ajsa luna won.[50][51]

'BAKPAKK', 'PANNONIA' and Budapest Park (2024)

On 9 February 2024 Desh published a live session recorded at the Eiffel Műhelyház in Budapest with Azahriah, Young Fly and Lord Panamo.[52] At the first of Azahriah's three Puskás Aréna concerts, on 24 May 2024, which sold out, Young Fly joined Desh's opening set and later performed 'Rampapapam' with Azahriah and Desh, and the pair announced an EP for the summer.[53] The live version of 'Rampapapam' appeared on Azahriah's album 'Puskás Aréna Live (2024)' in January 2025.[40][24]

'BAKPAKK', by Desh, Young Fly and Azahriah, came out as a video on 5 July 2024 and entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1, where it stayed four weeks. Its video was shot in Albania with Rádli Bence; the two singers later explained that Desh did not want to fly for more than an hour.[54][31][55][26] 'MOKKA' followed on 18 July, and the five-song EP 'BAKPAKK' ('BAKPAKK', 'MOKKA', 'CHOCO MOMMY', 'PANNONIA' and 'SUV') on 25 July.[56][22][13] The EP entered the Album Top 40 at No. 1, spent ten weeks at the top, the last in the spring of 2025, and was certified nine times platinum.[44][6]

'PANNONIA', also with Azahriah, first reached No. 1 on the Single Top 40 in the week of 2–8 August 2024 and spent 22 weeks there. It was the No. 1 song of MAHASZ's year-end list in both 2024 and 2025, led Spotify's Hungarian weekly chart for 18 weeks and reached No. 2 on MAHASZ's Magyar Rádiós Top 40, its airplay chart for Hungarian songs.[31][8][9][57][58] Its video, directed by Rádli Bence, had 68,277,249 views on 26 October 2026, the most of any official video featuring him.[59] In the Single Top 40 for 26 July – 1 August 2024, ten songs with Young Fly were on the chart at once, holding the top four places.[31] On YouTube's Hungary Top Artists chart, his views peaked in the week ending 8 August 2024 at 7,413,241, when he was No. 3.[10]

'BANDANA' by KKevin, Desh and Young Fly, released on Astro Music Group on 31 July 2024, peaked at No. 2 on both the Single Top 40 and Spotify Hungary and was certified platinum nineteen times, the highest certification of any release credited to him. Index noted that it borrows from The Notorious B.I.G.'s 'Hypnotize'.[22][60][31][61][6][62]

At Desh's first solo concert at Budapest Park on 1 August 2024, which sold out, Young Fly joined him from 'Elaludni' onward; Azahriah came on for 'MOKKA' and KKevin for 'Rollin'' and 'BANDANA', and Young Fly celebrated his birthday on stage while the audience sang to him.[62][15] An after-movie of the show, set to 'CHOCO MOMMY', was published on 14 August.[63] In the Recorder interview that September he said he had written and thrown away 150 to 200 solo songs, and that 'Rollin'' and 'Pakisztáni' had brought a 2000s-style hip-hop sound that no one else in Hungary was making, followed in 2024 by 'BAKPAKK' and 'SUV', which drew on hip-hop from another period; none of them, he said, followed the current trend.[15]

'OHMAMMA', 'vemzavr!' and the MVM Dome (2025)

At Desh's sold-out Budapest Park concert on 16 May 2025 Young Fly sang Azahriah's parts in 'Rampapapam', 'BAKPAKK' and 'PANNONIA', as Azahriah was absent.[64] 'OHMAMMA', by Desh and Young Fly, came out as a video on 4 August 2025; it topped the Single Top 40 for 13 weeks and Spotify Hungary for six, reached No. 1 on the Magyar Rádiós Top 40 and ranked tenth on the 2025 year-end list. Young Fly said it came out of one of the regular sessions the two kept up between concerts.[65][31][66][58][9][67] On YouTube's Hungary Top Songs chart it was No. 1 in 17 weeks in all, over four separate runs from the week ending 7 August 2025.[11] In the week ending 14 August 2025 he reached No. 2 on the Top Artists chart, behind Desh, for the first time.[10]

Azahriah's 'vemzavr! (ft. Young Fly)', released on 15 September 2025 and later included on Azahriah's album 'skatulya II', reached No. 1 on the Single Top 40 in its second week.[68][31][40] At the first of Azahriah's three MVM Dome concerts, on 17 October 2025, Young Fly performed 'Rampapapam' with Desh and Lord Panamo and then 'vemzavr!'.[69] 'Karácsonyi dal', a Christmas song by Desh, Young Fly and Azahriah, entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 in the week of 5–11 December 2025.[70][31] In the official film of Desh's sold-out MVM Dome concert of 19 December 2025, an audience member was given a car on stage, announced as a gift from Desh and Young Fly.[71][72]

'TIP TIP', 'Kiskece' and 'SUV 2' (2026)

'TIP TIP' (Desh, Young Fly and Azahriah, 10 March 2026) spent seven weeks at No. 1 on both the Single Top 40 and Spotify Hungary.[73][31][74] 'Kiskece' (Desh and Young Fly, 29 May 2026) entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 and spent nine weeks there.[75][31][76] Asked by Propaganda in July 2026 whether the act was called 'Desh and Young Fly', he said it was Desh's production, in which he was always on stage, and that the three of them met almost daily.[12]

'SUV 2' (Desh and Young Fly, video 20 August 2026) entered the Single Top 40 at No. 1 and was No. 1 on Spotify Hungary in each of its first nine weeks. It gave him his highest Spotify placings outside Hungary, No. 28 in Slovakia and No. 81 in Romania in the week ending 3 September 2026.[77][31][78] On YouTube's Hungary Top Songs chart it drew 3,009,053 views in the week ending 3 September 2026; between February 2019 and October 2026 only Majka's 'Csurran, cseppen' drew more in a week on that chart, in two weeks of January 2025.[11] On 18 September 2026 he joined Azahriah and Desh as the final guest of Azahriah's Budapest Park concert, and the three played their joint songs, Index reported.[79]

Artistry and collaborators

Somogyvári Dániel produced, arranged or mixed every single released under Young Fly's name or as Desh and Young Fly that was checked for this page, from 'Ne Gyere Át' (2021) to 'SUV 2' (2026), and co-produced Azahriah and Desh's 'Lóerő'; songs led by BSW, Rico, T. Danny and KKevin, and Azahriah's 'béke' and 'vemzavr!', used other producers. Rádli Bence directed most of his videos over the same years.[80][4][5][43][59][75][77][33][35][49][60][68][81]

In October 2026 Apple Music filed most of his Supermanagement releases under pop and his Astro Music Group collaborations with T. Danny and KKevin under hip-hop and rap.[22] Asked by Recorder about criticism that the lyrics of his songs with Desh were often strings of good-sounding words, he agreed that this was often so and saw no problem in it, but rejected the idea that they could not write deeper songs, naming 'PANNONIA' and 'MOKKA'. For him a hit needed a strong melody and flow, lyrics that could work on TikTok and good prosody.[15]

On 26 October 2026 his own channel held only four videos: 'Ne Gyere Át', 'Délibáb', '24 Karát' and 'Nekem elég'. Most later videos were published by Desh, Azahriah, KKevin and T. Danny, so the views YouTube counted for him on its artist chart came largely from those channels. On 26 October 2026 his channel had 65.6K subscribers and 15,253,415 views, and his YouTube Music page listed a monthly audience of 2.15 million, with all five of its top songs being collaborations with Desh.[30][1][82][10]

None of the 54 YouTube pages read for this page, about 30 of them official videos with him, carried YouTube's label for altered or synthetic content. The label-supplied credits named him as a performer and writer, and Index reported his live appearances in 2024, 2025 and 2026.[80][62][69][79]
