Season 25 released the R&B song 'Shotta's.' on 25 September 2026 through TuneCore, a service that lets artists put out music without a label. The act posts as S25 on TikTok and uses the handle @seasn25 there and on Instagram and YouTube. The credits say Season 25 wrote and sang it, TOBISWAG and Katzy produced it, and Felix R. Maier mastered it and mixed it with Season 25. No record company is named, and we could not find an interview in any language or any word on where Season 25 is from.

The song has charted without any of that. On 27 October Shazam had 'Shotta's.' at No. 14 on its world chart and in 39 of the 70 national charts it publishes, with top-ten places in ten of them: Canada No. 3, Switzerland No. 4, Germany No. 5, Britain No. 6, Australia, Denmark and Norway No. 8, Austria and Czechia No. 9 and New Zealand No. 10. Counting only the first 100 places of each national chart, which our radar reads daily, the song was in 25 lists on 19 October and in 35 on 27 October.

How 'Shotta's.' spread from the artist's own TikTok

Parts of the song were on TikTok almost four weeks before it came out. On 30 August S25 posted an 18-second clip of the hook, captioned 'you want it?', which has 1.1 million plays; the same clip came back on 10, 11 and 13 September (2.1 million, 1.4 million and 2.5 million plays) and on four more posts before the release. A post on 16 September gave the date, the 25th, and the release post went up at 23:04 UTC on 24 September. Two days later a post marking the release reached 8.0 million plays and 1.3 million likes, the most of any post on the account.

On TikTok, more than half of the videos we counted on the song's sounds use the clip from the artist's release post, as did the post with 8.0 million plays. On 27 October TikTok counted 105,300 videos on that clip's 'original sound', five times the 20,800 on the official 'Shotta's.' sound. The pre-release hook clip had 28,200 and two other S25 clips 22,700 and 17,900, which makes about 195,000 across the five. The top videos on these sounds share no dance or meme; they include outfit and make-up clips, couples, night drives, cars and football edits. On 24 October the YouTube group Beta Squad put the official sound on a TikTok photo post, which had 99,800 likes three days later.

Germany was first on Spotify's charts for 'Shotta's.'

Germany's Spotify daily chart picked up 'Shotta's.' at No. 190 on 6 October, Switzerland's the next day and Britain's on 9 October. It reached No. 5 in Germany on 22 October and No. 3 in Switzerland on 26 October, when it was No. 26 in Britain. Of the 6,338,677 streams the song had collected on Spotify's daily charts up to 26 October, 2,617,773 came from Germany and 1,973,172 from Britain, where the Official Charts Company lists it at No. 38 in both of its weeks on the Official Singles Chart and at No. 1 on its R&B chart. No source we found explains why Germany moved first.

In some countries Shazam is well ahead of the streaming charts. Canada, No. 3 on Shazam, had yet to put the song on Spotify's daily chart by 26 October, and Apple Music's Canadian list did not have it on 27 October; New Zealand, No. 10 on Shazam, had it on neither. Australia, where Shazam had it at No. 8, first put it on Spotify's daily chart on 26 October, at No. 191. That pattern fits people hearing the song in other people's videos and asking Shazam what it is before they stream it. We saw the same kind of gap this month with nissi's 'Wyw my sweetie'.

Who is Season 25? The singer's 19 releases since 2023

Little about Season 25 is public. The artist has not said where they are from or what their real name is; the Spotify biography is one word, 'octo', and the YouTube channel's description reads 'Intentional.'. The music goes back three years. Apple Music lists 19 releases by Season 25, from 'Same Page' on 27 June 2023 to 'Shotta's.', and the @seasn25 YouTube channel posted 'Same Page' on 17 July 2023. In 2025 came seven singles, three of which Apple files under Afrobeats or Afro-fusion: 'Buggin', 'Bangles' and 'Ashawo'. Every 2026 title ends in a full stop: 'Deceiving.', 'Pride.', 'Wassup.' and 'Indigo.', the four-track EP 'Nights in Oakleigh.' on 15 May, and after it 'No Warnings.', 'Unfazed.', 'Reframe.' and 'Shotta's.'.

Spotify showed 13,168,414 plays for 'Shotta's.' on 27 October, against 829,901 for 'Indigo.', the next most played, and 1,737,726 monthly listeners for the act. 'Octo Blue' appears in the rights line of 'Deceiving.' and 'Pride.', and TikTok shows the official sound under the account octo___blue, but no page we found says whether Octo Blue is a label, a team or the artist's own name for the work.

Most of the recent posts on the @seasn25 TikTok show the same person on camera, performing the songs or lip-syncing to them. No AI disclosure appears in the stores, on YouTube or on TikTok. The chorus names Joeldo. An artist of that name released the single 'Club', with Season 25 as guest, on 28 August 2024, and one of the September teasers tags the TikTok account @joeldooo.

'Shotta's.' lyrics meaning, and what 'shotta' means in slang

We found no official lyric sheet, so we went by the version a user submitted to lrclib.net. After a short opening that calls out to 'Tobi', the hook tells someone to let a girl go because she is breaking windows, asks Joeldo whether these men have no shame, and mocks a man who shows off an unfaithful partner as if she were gold. The first verse watches a soft-hearted man whose partner ignores his calls and wants his money, then switches to the singer's own crew arriving. In the second the singer is stressed by women while working for money, brushes off rivals as cowards, drives fast and stays out on a club night that lasts until morning. The language is explicit throughout, and we do not quote it.

The title word appears in one line only, at about 0:44, where the crew arrives because they are all shottas. Green's Dictionary of Slang records 'shotter', also spelt 'shotta', as British Black slang for 'a street-level drug dealer', with its earliest example from 2003. In West Indian use the dictionary gives it another sense, the best of a kind, as in 'top shotta'. In the song it is a boast about the people beside the singer.

'Shotta's.' holds one loudness level for nearly two minutes

For its first 14 seconds, where the user-submitted lyrics have a voice calling out to 'Tobi', 'Shotta's.' is what our classifier calls throbbing electronic music, and the classifier's first singing label comes at 14.3 seconds. From there to 2:10 it hears rhythm and blues, hip hop and rapping in every passage, and singing in half of them, at about three words a second. The loudness reading, which runs from 0 to 1, stays between 0.53 and 0.58 for nearly two minutes. Only the last 13 seconds of the 2:22 fall back, to 0.48. We estimate the key as E minor.

A song that barely changes in loudness for nearly two minutes suits TikTok, where any 15 seconds of it sounds like the rest; on radio or in a playlist that evenness may work against it, since there is no big moment to wait for. The chart run is a month old, and much of it has come from people reusing the artist's own clips; we found no radio campaign or concert listing behind Season 25.

Britain is where we expect the next jump: 'Shotta's.' should reach the top 20 of the Official Singles Chart, the UK's main weekly chart, in an edition published by 30 November, and before December it should appear at least once among the 200 songs on Spotify's global daily chart, where it was missing on 26 October.

About the data

  • Chart places come from Shazam's world and national top 200 lists (read on 27 October, UTC), Spotify's daily and weekly charts and Apple Music's Top Songs lists as kworb.net copies them (Spotify to 26 October), the song's entry on the Official Charts Company site, and our radar's daily reads of Shazam. The artist's Spotify page gave the play counts and monthly listeners, and the TikTok posts and sound pages gave the play and video counts, all read on 27 October. Credits and dates are from the YouTube Topic upload, Apple Music, Deezer and the artist's own posts. Apple's track listing gives 20 September; we follow 25 September, the date on the single page, on Deezer and in the artist's announcement.
  • Our own software tags every passage of the track with an AudioSet model and gives it a loudness score between 0 and 1, so 'rapping' and 'rhythm and blues' are that model's labels; a second program of ours estimated the key. The lyrics we describe are a user's submission to lrclib.net, not an official text, and none of them is quoted. The meaning of 'shotta' is from Green's Dictionary of Slang.
