Zlata Ko

Zlata Ko is the name credited for the female vocal on pop singles released by MUV in 2026, first on Kolibri's 'Червоний мак' (Red Poppy), whose first version was sung by AI according to Kavabanga Depo Kolibri; it was No. 1 on YouTube's weekly Ukrainian song chart for 19 weeks in a row.

Zlata Ko is the name credited for a female vocal on a run of pop singles, all but one in Ukrainian, that the label MUV released from May 2026. The first was 'Червоний мак' ('Red Poppy'), a duet credited to Kolibri, a member of the group Kavabanga Depo Kolibri, and Zlata Ko.[1][2][3] When a re-recorded version came out in September 2026, the group's official YouTube channel wrote that the song's author, Nazar Berezhnyi (karmv), had let artificial intelligence perform the first version as an experiment.[4] Espreso and the Dnipro television channel D1 reported that no singer called Zlata Ko existed, and Telegraf and Detector Media's site Antonina that the female vocal of the first version was generated by AI.[5][6][7][8]

'Червоний мак' was No. 1 on YouTube's weekly Top Songs chart for Ukraine in every week from the week ending 18 June to the week ending 22 October 2026, nineteen weeks in a row, and Zlata Ko led the weekly Top Artists chart in ten of those weeks. In mymy's count of all 403 weekly Ukrainian Top Songs charts from February 2019, only two songs held the top longer without a break.[9][10] The song also led Spotify's weekly chart for Ukraine for seven weeks and was No. 1 on Apple Music's Ukrainian chart in August 2026, by Fair's account, and on 26 October 2026.[11][12][13] Between May and October 2026 twelve singles came out under the name, six of them credited to Zlata Ko alone.[1][14]

Name and identity

The name is written 'Zlata Ko' on Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify and YouTube Music, 'ZLATA KO' on the cover of 'Червона рута' and in the description of the 'Мальви' video, and 'Злата Ко' in Cyrillic in the description of the KARMV remix video.[1][14][15][16][17][18] The chart entry belongs to 'Zlata Ko - Topic', a channel that YouTube generates automatically from an artist's releases; it carried no description and showed 1.2 thousand subscribers on 27 October 2026.[19] YouTube Music showed the same subscriber count and 73 million plays of 'Червоний мак' that day, and Spotify showed 238.8 thousand monthly listeners on a profile that used single artwork in place of an artist photograph.[16][15]

A second YouTube channel named Zlata Ko, with the handle @uazlatako, was created on 7 July 2026 and gives Ukraine as its country. Its Ukrainian description is written in the first person, as if by the Zlata who sings 'Червоний мак', and it links an Instagram account, its.zlatako. On 27 October 2026 the channel had 1.01 thousand subscribers, 385,347 views and 24 uploads: three videos and 21 Shorts.[20][21] The Shorts, posted between 13 July and 14 August 2026, are clips of 15 to 54 seconds set to 'Червоний мак', 'Мальви' and 'Літо як осінь'; the most watched had 50,053 views.[21]

The press reports of September and October 2026 named no singer behind the voice.[5][7][6][8] Zlata Ko is a different act from the Ukrainian singer Zlata Ognevich, who appeared separately on YouTube's Ukrainian charts, and from an Apple Music act called ZLATA.[22][10]

Career: 'Червоний мак' and the duets with Kolibri (May–June 2026)

'Червоний мак' by Kolibri and Zlata Ko came out as a single on 18 May 2026, four minutes and three seconds long, with a '℗ 2026 MUV' line.[1][23] The credits YouTube received from MUV name Nazar Berezhnyi as composer and lyricist and Oleksandr Plisakin as producer and sound engineer.[2] Espreso and Telegraf instead credited the words and music to Plisakin and wrote that Kolibri sang the male part.[5][7] Espreso described the song as a melancholy one about a love that never came true.[5] Its video, posted on Kolibri's YouTube channel on 19 May 2026, had 42,077,934 views on 27 October 2026, and the art track another 26,047,058.[24][2] Kolibri's channel, created on 5 March 2026, introduces him as the Kolibri of KDK.[3]

Two more duets with Kolibri followed in June. 'Літо кольору мохіто' ('Mojito-coloured summer', 4 June) credited Berezhnyi as composer, producer and engineer and added Zlata Kovalenko (Злата Коваленко) as a lyricist beside him; 'Нічка' ('Little night') came out on 19 June.[25][1][26] Between them, on 10 June, came 'Сzerwony mak', a Polish-language version of 'Червоний мак' with the same credits as 'Літо кольору мохіто'; Kolibri's channel posted it with Polish lyrics on 26 June.[27][28][1] 'Літо кольору мохіто' reached No. 67 on YouTube's weekly Ukrainian Top Songs chart in the week ending 16 July 2026 and stayed on it for eight weeks.[9]

Career: solo singles and 'Мальви' (July–August 2026)

The first single credited to Zlata Ko alone, 'Звернися до мене' ('Turn to me'), came out on 2 July 2026. It runs one minute and 57 seconds and credits Berezhnyi as composer, lyricist, producer and sound engineer.[29][1] A remix of 'Червоний мак' by karmv followed on 10 July. Its official video, posted on the @uazlatako channel on 17 July, credits karmv with the remix, mixing, mastering, lyrics, script, video and post-production; on 27 October 2026 the remix's art track had 4,951,575 views, and it had reached No. 95 on Spotify's weekly Ukrainian chart.[30][18][31]

'Мальви' ('Mallows'), credited to Kavabanga Depo Kolibri and Zlata Ko, came out on 15 July 2026. Maksym Nifontov produced it, Plisakin was credited as engineer and composer, and Plisakin and Berezhnyi as lyricists. The video on the group's channel lists Zlata Ko's Instagram and YouTube accounts under the name. The song peaked at No. 31 on YouTube's Ukrainian Top Songs chart, where it spent 14 weeks, and at No. 190 on Spotify's weekly chart.[32][17][9][33]

On 23 July 2026 Kolibri released a solo version of 'Червоний мак' without Zlata Ko, two minutes and eleven seconds long and credited to Berezhnyi; his channel posted it the next day as the official version.[34][35][23] The solo single 'Літо як осінь' ('Summer like autumn') came out on 5 August; YouTube Music's list of Zlata Ko's singles did not include it on 27 October 2026.[1][14][16] Its video, posted on the @uazlatako channel on 26 August, and a 19-second 'Мальви' Short were the only two of the channel's 24 uploads that carried YouTube's 'Made with AI' panel, which reads 'Sounds or visuals were altered or fully generated', on 27 October 2026. No such panel appeared on the art tracks of ten of the releases, the two without one being 'Нічка' and 'Літо як осінь', or on the Kolibri and Kavabanga Depo Kolibri videos that carry the name.[36][37][21]

Career: the SKYLERR re-recording and October singles (September–October 2026)

By 22 September 2026, when Espreso, Telegraf and Fair reported it, the singer SKYLERR (Valeriia Kudriavets) had announced at one of her concerts that she would sing 'Червоний мак' with Kavabanga Depo Kolibri, saying that the group had written the song that everyone knew in the voice of artificial intelligence, and had sung part of a new version.[5][7][12] On Instagram she wrote that there was no artificial intelligence in it: live music, live performance and choirs.[12] The SKYLERR and Kavabanga Depo Kolibri version came out on 29 September 2026, with music and lyrics credited to Berezhnyi, arrangement by RUNSTAR and mixing and mastering by Stas Chornyi.[4][23] In the description of its video the group wrote that people had made the song from the start, that Berezhnyi had let AI perform the first version as an experiment, and that the new recording contained no AI. The same description called the release a live version, and the video's credits listed Anatoliy Ruzhytskyi as director of photography, editor and 'AI Artist'.[4] That version entered YouTube's Ukrainian Top Songs chart at No. 31 in the week ending 1 October and was No. 2 in the weeks ending 15 and 22 October, behind the Zlata Ko version; its video had 3,302,123 views on 27 October 2026.[9][4]

Four more singles credited to Zlata Ko alone came out in October 2026: 'Палай' ('Burn', 7 October), written and produced by Bohdan Bandurenko; 'Нічка темна' ('Dark little night', 15 October); 'Цикада' ('Cicada', 22 October); and 'Червона рута' ('Red rue', 23 October). The last three credit Zlata Kovalenko as producer, sound engineer, composer and lyricist; the credits do not say who that is.[38][39][40][41][1] The lyrics of 'Нічка темна' borrow a lullaby line in which a little grey wolf (сіренький вовчок) comes and grabs at one's side.[39]

Production and the AI vocal

The group's statement of 29 September 2026 concerned the first version of 'Червоний мак'; it named Berezhnyi as the author of the music and lyrics and described the AI performance as his experiment.[4] The press accounts differed in degree. Espreso wrote that the voice singing most of the lyrics belonged to no Zlata Ko, while its own subheading said that a neural network, not a musician, had written the song; Telegraf wrote that the female vocal of the first version was made with AI; and D1, citing the site UKRRAIN, called 'Червоний мак' a song generated entirely by a neural network while naming two real musicians, Plisakin among them, behind it.[5][7][6] Antonina, a site of Detector Media, called the song one of the most visible Ukrainian examples of AI-generated vocals on 17 October 2026, counted more than 750,000 TikTok posts using it and wrote that commenters were divided between SKYLERR's version and the AI-sung original.[8]

Espreso set the song in a wider pattern. It cited the Bezodnya Music project's finding that in June 2026 36 per cent of plays on Ukraine's YouTube Music charts went to AI-generated music, against 9 per cent on Apple Music and 4 per cent on Spotify. It also wrote that in some weekly charts at the peak of summer 2026 AI tracks took six of the top ten places on Ukrainian YouTube, leaving Kalush Orchestra, Alena Omargalieva, Шугар and YAKTAK as the only human acts there.[5] Telegraf and Fair reported in September 2026 that the song had led Apple Music's Ukrainian top 100 and YouTube's weekly Ukrainian chart.[7][12] Remixes by other producers, among them Max Tarconi (19 September 2026, 108,787 views on 27 October), TDV and Black Vibe, were posted on YouTube outside the catalogue.[42][16]

Chart history

The YouTube figures below come from mymy's count of every weekly Ukrainian Top Artists and Top Songs chart from 7 February 2019 to 22 October 2026: 403 weeks of 100 places each.[9][10]

  • YouTube Top Songs, 'Червоний мак': entered at No. 19 in the week ending 4 June 2026 with 584,916 views, rose to No. 2 a week later and was No. 1 from the week ending 18 June to the week ending 22 October, nineteen weeks without a break; it was in the top ten in 20 of its 21 weeks. Its biggest week was the one ending 30 July, with 4,130,200 views, and over its 21 weeks the chart credited it with 66,195,846 views. Only Parfeniuk's 'Врубай' (27 weeks, November 2024 to May 2025) and Drevo's 'Смарагдове небо' (25 weeks, May to November 2025) had longer unbroken runs at No. 1 on that chart from February 2019; Artem Pivovarov and Klavdia Petrivna's 'Барабан' also had nineteen (May to September 2024).[9]
  • YouTube Top Songs, other entries: 'Мальви' No. 31 (14 weeks) and 'Літо кольору мохіто' No. 67 (8 weeks); three songs carrying the name were on the chart together in the four weeks ending 23 July to 13 August 2026. The SKYLERR re-recording, which does not carry the name, reached No. 2.[9]
  • YouTube Top Artists: entered at No. 26 in the week ending 11 June 2026. Weekly places: No. 9 (18 June); No. 4 (25 June, 2 and 9 July); No. 2 (16 July); No. 1 (23 July to 20 August); No. 2 behind Alena Omargalieva (27 August and 3 September); No. 1 (10 September to 8 October); No. 3 behind Kavabanga Depo Kolibri and Omargalieva (15 and 22 October). That made ten weeks at No. 1 and 19 of its 20 weeks in the top ten, and the 4,857,341 views in the week ending 30 July were the highest. YouTube's own weeks-on-chart counter read 21 in the week ending 22 October, one more than the 20 weeks on the published charts.[10]
  • Zlata Ko and Kolibri: in ten weeks between 16 July and 8 October 2026 the two names held the top two places of the Ukrainian Top Artists chart between them; Kolibri was No. 1 in the week ending 16 July.[10]
  • Spotify, Ukraine weekly: 'Червоний мак' entered at No. 26 in the week ending 11 June 2026 and was No. 1 in the five weeks ending 25 June to 23 July and in the weeks ending 27 August and 3 September, seven weeks in all, with 158,903 streams in its best week; it was No. 7 in its twentieth week, ending 22 October, and No. 6 on the daily chart of 25 October, with 15,482 streams. The karmv remix reached No. 95 and 'Мальви' No. 190. All three of these entries were on the Ukrainian chart only.[11][31][33][43][44]
  • Apple Music, Ukraine: 'Червоний мак' was No. 1 on the Top Songs chart of 26 October 2026, and the SKYLERR and Kavabanga Depo Kolibri version No. 91.[13]
